Common Questions
Sessions & Training
What Is the Appointment Refund Policy?
A 50% refund is available when requested more than 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. Requests made exactly 24 hours before the appointment or later do not qualify for this refund. Please send your request to Info@IBPH.org.
How Old Must Training Students Be?
IBPH training students must be aged 18 or older. The minimum age of 7 applies to therapy clients, not students.
How Do Online Hypnotherapy Sessions Work?
Sessions take place over Zoom. You discuss your goals with your practitioner, explore focused attention and change-work methods by agreement, then review the experience and next steps. You can ask questions, pause, or stop at any point.
What Does a Session Cost and How Long Does It Last?
A session costs $200 with tax included and lasts 45–90 minutes. Your first paid session adds a complimentary 30-minute intake, for 75–120 minutes total. The intake is part of that paid first session, not a separate free appointment.
Are Session Packages Available?
Packages include 3 sessions for $525, 4 for $680, 6 for $960, or 12 for $1,560. Sessions are scheduled one at a time. Payment is in full; no deposit is required.
Can I Work with IBPH from Outside Washington?
IBPH connects clients worldwide with practitioners for online sessions. Your practitioner confirms whether they can work with you in your location before the appointment is arranged.
Do Practitioners Work with Children?
IBPH practitioners accept clients aged 7 and older. Guardian consent is required for clients under 18. Contact IBPH to discuss a suitable practitioner before arranging a child's appointment.
Does Hypnotherapy Replace Medical or Mental-Health Care?
No. IBPH hypnotherapy is complementary and non-clinical. Practitioners do not diagnose, treat, or cure medical or mental-health conditions, prescribe medication, or replace a licensed healthcare provider.
What Training Does IBPH Offer?
James Calvin teaches a monthly 8-hour Online Crash Course for $99 and a five-day, 40-hour Practitioner Intensive in Puyallup, Washington, twice a year for $895. Classes run 9 AM–5 PM Pacific Time and are capped at 18 students.
What Is Included with In-Person Training?
Lunch and parking are included with the Practitioner Intensive. Attendees arrange and pay for lodging. Online classes do not include meals. Tax is included in the stated class price.
Is the IBPH Certificate a Professional License?
No. Graduates of the Practitioner Intensive receive an IBPH training certificate of completion, not a state license or registration. Applying to the practitioner directory is a separate review process; completing a class does not automatically approve a profile.
