What to Expect from an Online Hypnotherapy Session
A step-by-step look at an IBPH session over Zoom: preparing your space, the paid first-session intake, collaborative change work, and follow-up.
Before You Request a Session
Start with a practitioner whose background and approach feel like a good fit. Choose a published opening if one is available, or send your preferred date and time. Published times include a time zone; a preferred request is not a confirmed appointment. Your practitioner follows up with payment details, instructions, and your Zoom link.
IBPH sessions cost $200 with tax included. A session lasts 45–90 minutes. Your first paid session adds a complimentary 30-minute intake, for 75–120 minutes total. This intake is part of the paid first appointment, not a separate free consultation. Payment is in full with no deposit.
Prepare Your Space and Connection
Choose a private, comfortable place where you can remain undisturbed. Use a stable internet connection, check your camera and microphone, and close notifications. Headphones can make listening easier. Keep water within reach and allow time afterward before returning to a busy task.
Do not join while driving or doing anything that requires your full attention. If you share your home, consider whether someone nearby can overhear you. Ask your practitioner about any privacy concerns before beginning; online delivery does not make your surroundings private automatically.
Read the Disclosure and Set Your Goals
Read the Client Disclosure Statement and sign it before your first appointment. It explains IBPH's complementary, non-clinical scope, financial terms, confidentiality and its limits. Ask questions about anything you do not understand.
The first-session intake gives you and your practitioner time to discuss what you hope to change, your preferences, and what a useful next step would look like. You do not need a polished explanation. A specific everyday example can be a helpful starting point.
During the Session
Your practitioner may use conversation, imagery, focused attention, reframing, parts work, or rehearsal, depending on your goals and agreement. The experience varies from person to person. You do not need to achieve a particular trance depth or perform hypnosis correctly.
You can speak, ask a question, pause, or stop. A good working relationship includes clarity about what you are comfortable with. Hypnotherapy is not a way to surrender responsibility or control, and no particular outcome is guaranteed.
Afterward and Follow-Up
At the end, you review the experience and discuss any agreed practice or next step. Give yourself a little time to settle before moving into demanding activity. Follow-up sessions are scheduled separately; the number of sessions depends on your goals and experience, not a promised formula.
Packages include 3 sessions for $525, 4 for $680, 6 for $960, or 12 for $1,560. Hypnotherapy at IBPH does not diagnose or treat medical or mental-health conditions and does not replace your licensed healthcare provider. Continue appropriate care and discuss health concerns with that provider.
