Hypnotherapy for Stress Eating

Hypnotherapy for stress eating — separating hunger from the feeling that food is answering.

How We See It

Stress eating is a regulation strategy that works. Food genuinely changes state, quickly and legally, which is why advice about discipline lands so poorly.

We identify the state being sought, give the body another reliable route to it, and let eating go back to being about hunger.

What People Usually Describe

  • Eating rises with pressure, not appetite
  • It happens at a specific time — after work, after the kids are down
  • You eat past full and only notice afterwards
  • Restrictive plans produce a rebound

How We Make the Change

Parts Negotiation

Sitting down with the part of you that wants the change and the part that keeps protecting the old behavior, and getting them to agree on terms.

The part that soothes with food agrees to a substitute that actually soothes.

Anchoring

Attaching a calm, resourceful state to a physical cue you can use in the moment you need it.

A physical route to calm is conditioned for the moment the kitchen usually calls.

Reframing

Changing the meaning attached to an event or urge so the same facts stop producing the same reaction.

Food is unhooked from reward and comfort without being made into a moral problem.

Future Pacing

Rehearsing the new response in the exact situations where the old one used to run.

The evening, the drive home and the difficult day are rehearsed with the new response.

Common Questions

Will you put me on a diet?

No. We are not nutritionists and we do not prescribe eating plans.

Can I do this alongside a dietitian?

Yes, and that combination usually works best.
