Hypnotherapy for Procrastination

Hypnotherapy for procrastination — treating avoidance as protection rather than laziness.

How We See It

Procrastination is almost never a time management problem. It is avoidance of a feeling the task predicts: being judged, being wrong, being finished and still not enough.

Find the predicted feeling, resolve it, and the task stops needing to be avoided. Systems and calendars work fine after that.

What People Usually Describe

  • You do easy work fluently and stall on one specific kind of task
  • Starting is far harder than continuing
  • Deadlines are the only thing that moves you
  • You feel worst about the tasks you care about most

How We Make the Change

Arrow Technique

A direct, layer-by-layer descent from the surface complaint to the original decision underneath it.

We follow the avoidance down to what finishing would mean about you.

Parts Negotiation

Sitting down with the part of you that wants the change and the part that keeps protecting the old behavior, and getting them to agree on terms.

The protective part that stalls is given a way to protect you that does not cost you the deadline.

Modeling

Identifying how someone who already does this well does it, and installing that structure in you.

We install the actual starting structure used by people who begin without drama.

Future Pacing

Rehearsing the new response in the exact situations where the old one used to run.

The specific task, desk and time of day are rehearsed with an easy start.

Common Questions

Is this the same as ADHD?

Not necessarily, and the two are often confused. We will talk about the difference at intake.

How many sessions?

Commonly two to three.
